  One of the most prominent scholars of Jamaat-e-Islam Kerala Halqa, Janab K.C. Abdulla Moulavi supported the cause of modern approach in the Muslim world as well as changes in the educational system. After Haji Sahib passed away in 1956, Janab K.C, Abdulla Moulavi was the Kerala Ameer till 1990, serving for almost 22 years. Supporting Islamic causes, and including women and children in it's social activities, focusing on Islamic details with concern to journalistic approach, Abdulla Moulavi opened a whole new path. Thus he played an important role in the modernization and also expansion of the Islamic community.


Life & Education


K.C, Abdulla Moulavi was born in Kodiyathur in Kozhikode district on 22 February 1920. Kunnathchalil Hussain and Abiya are his parents. Primary education was done at the local Madrasa until the fifth standard. After that he continued his education at Madrasas in Punoor, Peringadi and further studies at Bakhiyathusalih at Velloor. Received degree in M.F.B in 1942. Later came back to Vazhakad Darul Uloom and was it's principal and with the invitation of the Kerala Jamiyathul Uluma Leader M.C.C. Abdurahiman Moulavi became a teacher at the same. Then when the college was shifted to Thirurangadi, K.C. moved to there. During the same time, he also received his degree in Af'lla'lul Uluma from the Madras University. From 1946-1949 he also taught at the Kasargod Aliya (currently the Aliya Arabic College).

Services

K.C. Abdulla Moulavi became a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami on January 15, 1948. He was also selected for the Jamaat State conference, in August the same year. When in 1949, Prabodhanam began its publication, he took up the responsibility of being the sub editor. From 1950 until his final days, K.C. was a member of the Jamaat's All India Confederation (Majlisushurra), and the Committee (Majlis-e-Jamaate'nthagan). During the Indo-Pak was in 1975 when emergency was declared, K.C. was jailed. He was also influential in settin up the Students Islamic Organisation (I.S.O) in Kerala. Throught he I.S.O model another organization was also set up by the name of - Girls Islamic Organization. This was the first time a ladies organization was set up to promote Islamic Culture and teaching in the state - another milestone.

Educational Milestones


K.C. Moulvi bought about a lot of changes in Islamic learning. The Al-Madrasathul Islamiyya set up by himself in Chendamangalur in 1952 had compulsory tuitions in Arabic language from classes 1 to 10. The first Women's Islamic Institution with hostel accommodation at Chendamnagalur by the name of Madrasathul Banath has also a major hand of K.C. It was set up in 1961. The man behind the Arts and Islamic (A.I.C) courses was also K.C. Abdulla Moulavi. From 1967 to his last breath, it was Janab K.C. who was in charge of the Chendamangalur Islahiya Association. Janab K.C. also played an important role in the setting up of Majlisuth'aleemul Islami Keralaa and the curriculum for the same.

The Journalist


The main person behind the Madhayamam daily was also K.C. Abdulla Moulavi. He also played an important role in the publication and growth of the Prabhodanam weekly. Janab K.C. Abdulla Moulavi was also behind some of these publications as well - Malarvadi children's magazine, Aaraamam women's magazine, Shastravicharam magazine and Bodhanam quarterly.

For Unity


Janab K.C. Abdulla Moulavi played an important role in promoting unity among the various Muslim organizations. The differences in the thoughts and approaches which prevailed among the various organizations was turned into closeness and peace among them. When in 1970, the Muslim League and M.E.S split and also when there was a breakdown in the Muslim League, Janab K.C. alongwith other prominent leaders did their best to prevail unity. After the Nadavathul Mujahideen State Conference in 1979, K.C. signed on the Unity Treaty under the mediation of Sheikh Omar Fullatha from Saudi Arabia.

Writings


Having very good knowledge of the Arabic and Urdu language and enough knowledge of English, K.C. was a great scholar of the various topics in the Quran. He has written numerous essays and about a dozen or so books:

Obituary


On August 13, 1995 Janab K.C. Abdulla Moulavi passed away.
